Studebaker's New Aero Nose - Popular Science - 1949

I was fortunate enough to spot this nearly mint original of Popular Science Monthly from September 1949 on a collectibles web site.

The magazine commissioned original art for its cover and dedicated several pages to reviewing Studebaker's new technical specs and look for the 1950 model year. The cover and first page of the article are below. More to come ...

Studebaker - Model - Cars

Michael Paul Smith's models of 1950s American towns, streets, and cars are masterful and have been viewed millions of times on Flickr.com. Let's not forget to mention that they feature images of Studebaker cars!

"My model making skills are an accumulation of numerous and varied jobs I've had over the years. Everything from text book illustrator, wallpaper hanger and house painter, designer of museum displays, architectural model maker, and art director for retail stores. My love of the 20th Century has been a constant inspiration for all of my work."

2nd Annual California Automobile Museum Car Cruise

I'm very close to entering my car into this classic car cruise. Regardless, I'm headed to Midtown to check it out. The 2009 Cruise was excellent!

1953 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe

I'm not a rodder, but this is a fine car.

"The cream-colored engine compartment sets off a small-block Chevy decked out in dark green. Gary got a deal on the seasoned, Quadrajet-fed 350, and then made it even better with block-hugger headers, Olds Rocket valve covers, and tasteful detailing. A Speedway Motors aluminum radiator and electric fan keep things cool. Heartland Transmissions in Kearney rebuilt the GM 200-4R overdrive automatic."
