Whoa. "A 1946 Studebaker Truck tilt front end and a Dodge dually truck bed with a 1950 Studebaker Champion body in between."

1961 Studebaker Hawk
Jalopnik featured the 1961 Studebaker Hawk in its article, "What's The Most Retro-Looking Car?" (image below)
"Whether it's a new car meant to look old, or an old car desperately trying to look new, we'd like to know what car looks the most retro in 2010. Our answer? The early 60's Studebaker Hawk. No doubt, they're awesome, but the late 1950s and early 1960s designers employed so many then-hip design cues in an attempt to look like the future it now looks hilariously old fashioned. Gun sights? Check. Dagmar-esque bumpers? Check. Fins out back? Check. Throw in two-tone paint and white-wall tires and it's more retro than Dick Van Dyke flying Pan-Am."
I must add that I love the Hawk models ... with a special place in my heart for the catfish-like Packard Hawk.

Studebaker Champion Bullet Nose - Ten Gorgeous Car Grilles
Coming in at #10 on Jalopnik's list of "Ten Gorgeous Car Grilles" is the '50 Champion grille.
"It looks like the nosecone of a rocketship. It was featured in The Muppet Movie, getting Kermit & Fozzie from the swamps of Florida to Hollywood. There's never been a car, before or since, with such a distinctively-designed nose."

Jalopnik.com DOTS: Two Studebakers. We Can Do Better.
This is a rallying cry. Jalopnik.com publishes a feature named "Down on the Street" (aka DOTS). The DOTS articles highlight unique, classic, venerated, adored ... any vehicles worthy of discussion. And of the 200 DOTS to date, only a Lark VIII and an Avanti have been featured from the Studebaker bloodline.
While I love both the Avanti and the Lark, Studebaker owners need to show the breadth, depth, and engineering excellence of the Studebaker name with a few more Studes. Let's get a Speedster DOTS. I'm considering a trek from Sacramento to the Alameda with our trusty '50 bulletnose Champion.
Anyone else "in"? And hopefully, geographically closer?
