Quick Digression: 1948 Jaguar Mark V

This beauty was parked outside of an athletic facility near my home. I was amazed to see a mint Jaguar Mark V in such a tight and unfriendly parking area.

"The car was launched at the 1948 London Motor Show at the same time as the XK120 with which it shared the stand. However, the Mark V vastly outsold the XK120 by roughly 5,000 cars per year as compared to 2,000 cars per year for the XK120."

The Studebaker and the Cow

"Parker's brother, who worked at Madison Street Auto Body at the time, took ownership of the badly damaged Studebaker four-door sedan after it was rear-ended and the owners decided not to even bother with repairs.

Parker was intrigued by the car but, as a 14-year-old, didn't have a lot of assets to his name. So he milked his only cash cow - literally.

In exchange for the car, Parker offered to give his brother, a farmer, the cow he had been raising for 4-H and FFA."

1948 Studebaker Land Cruiser - Mantua Man Buys 'Interim Car'

Why have just one great Studebaker?

"Bill Jones, an officer and editor of the South Jersey Studebaker club’s slick newsletter, couldn’t wait for his 1962 Studebaker Lark Daytona to get fully restored and show-ready. So, seven months ago, he bought a fine example of a ’48 Land Cruiser (top-of-the-line above the Champion and Commander) while he waited."

1948 Tucker - Worth Its Own Post

A friend sent me an amazing set of photographs taken by a good samaritan who helped a Tucker driver get back on the road.

"We were driving back from Las Vegas when we came upon a mint-condition '48 Tucker having tire problems. A tire was not flat, but starting to come apart. We followed him to an abandoned gas station in Yermo, Ca. to get out of the desert sun and helped him change the tire. During the process I got some great photos of a great car."

1948 Studebaker Champion - Sheriff Special

I've seen this "sheriff special" at both the California Auto Museum and the Sacramento Southwest Zone Meet. The model year and the kitsch factor of this car make me smile. Here are a few pictures from the California Auto Museum.

Thanks to Lee Boyer for sharing his cool car.
