1955 Studebaker Conestoga Wagon - 1963 Studebaker Avanti

Today, I received two great photos of Studebakers and a "Studebaker Story" to go with them. Many thanks to Norman K. for sharing. Here you go:

"The 1955 Conestoga Wagon originally had standard 3-speed, column-mounted shifter, and a radio, as its only accessory. I found a '57 Conestoga Wagon ($50 and towing) with automatic transmission and power steering. My mechanic transplanted the '57 guts into the '55. We returned the color to Pima Red (it had faded to pink) and added the black surround to the greenhouse. Interior was red and white vinyl, which we replaced, and made the dash and interior door panels black. Drove it regularly. Sold it to an aficionado.

The Avanti is a '63 round headlight model we bought in LA. It had been silver exterior black interior. We did a frame-off restoration and changed to white with blue and blue-green interior. It was my wife's car, and she drove it all the time. Loved it."

Love the wagon!! Local Studebaker dealer had "0" mile, untitled Avanti until about 5 years ago. Finally sold it.
