" 1972 Avanti II Coupe originally owned by Raymond Loewy, the father of industrial design who streamlined everything from Greyhound buses to toothbrushes, will cross the auction block in May.
Loewy designed the Avanti, a two-door four-seater which has a European feel with minimalist trim, for Studebaker in the early 1960s. It is one of the highlights of the Les Grandes Marques a Monaco sale by Bonhams in Monte Carlo on May 11.
Bonhams said in a statement that the car is expected to fetch a minimum of $46,120."

Everything for Sale - Even the Studebaker
"Seventy-eight-year-old Leonard Hall chuckles as he relates the saga of the 1950 Studebaker. As the oldest inanimate object on the lot, this car merits special mention. The red-rust four-door sedan has been sitting on the lot of Hall’s 2nd Hand Store in Central El Paso for 25 years. Like a loyal dog, it awaits its owner’s return ..."
Doesn't look like a '50 to me!

1958 Packard Hawk - Rare - For Sale
Super-rare find! Love the catfish nose. :-)
"958, the last year of Packard production, brought forth approximately 588 of the fastest, sportiest, Packard-badged Studebakers. Essentially a luxurious version of the 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk 400, and powered with the same 289 V8 topped off with a McCulloch supercharger, the Packard Hawk's controversial styling may have been the reason only 588 were sold. Most of the Hawks were equipped with the Borg-Warner three-speed automatic transmission. This rare Hawk is one of approximately 28 produced with the B-W T85 3-speed w/overdrive manual transmission. There isn't enough to go around, don't let someone else beat you to this true collector car."

1950 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe - $10,995
Is this car a steal? The price is very nice and the pictures are amazing. I realize that it's not a show car, but the resto. is really well done. I wonder what the undercarriage looks like.

1958 Packard Hawk - Studebaker Hawk - $74,000
From the NY Times Automobile section:
"The Packards of 1958 were simply Studebakers dolled up with some horribly contrived styling touches. In the case of the Hawk, the pretty Studebaker grille was replaced by a low, wide fiberglass intake that made the front end look like a catfish. The rear deck had an embossed fake spare tire, and the pièce de résistance was a padded leather armrest on the outside of the door, exposed to the elements."
And I ask, "Isn't being a Studebaker remarkable enough?" ;)
