A few weeks ago a close friend from Australia by-way-of London visited and took some excellent artistic images of our beloved Studebaker, "Doc." Here is small sampling for your enjoyment.

Studebaker Champion Bullet Nose - Ten Gorgeous Car Grilles
Coming in at #10 on Jalopnik's list of "Ten Gorgeous Car Grilles" is the '50 Champion grille.
"It looks like the nosecone of a rocketship. It was featured in The Muppet Movie, getting Kermit & Fozzie from the swamps of Florida to Hollywood. There's never been a car, before or since, with such a distinctively-designed nose."

Studebaker Champion - McClatchy High School
I took "Doc" for a cruise to Freeport, CA, today. The town is home to less than 130 people, and has some lovely roads, country stores, fields, farms, and rural topography.
Here are a few pics of Doc in front of McClatchy High School in Sacramento, CA, which we passed along the way, and named after the publishing magnate.

Mercedes-Benz SL - Class 230 SL
Another excellent classic car "down on the street" in midtown Sacramento, CA.
"The SL-Class 230SL, with a 2.3 six cylinder engine, low waistline and big curved greenhouse windows, and a Coupe Roadster whose distinctive roofline earned the nickname "pagoda top." Around 1968 the engine received a displacement increase and the model became known as the 250SL. The last two years of production as the 280SL saw minor changes to switch knobs, and wheel trim rings became full hubcaps."

1969 Avanti II - New York, NY
The NY Times has an excellent audio and pictorial slide show of this 1969 Studebaker Avanti II.
"The car was a 1969 Avanti II. It looked both retro and futuristic, something that might have been driven by Serge Gainsbourg in 1960s Paris, or perhaps by Neo from “The Matrix.”
"It was just love. That's all it was."
